Remote Radio Heads

Remote radio heads (RRHs), also called remote radio units (RRUs), provide radio-frequency transmission and reception at cellular base stations. Positioned near the antenna system, these units connect wireless network equipment with the antennas serving mobile users.

RRHs and RRUs house essential RF components used to amplify, filter, convert and process transmitted and received signals. They typically communicate with baseband equipment through fiber connections while receiving dedicated DC power at the installation site.

Remote radio equipment supports distributed base station architectures for cellular, LTE, 5G, private wireless and fixed wireless networks. Common deployment locations include telecommunications towers, rooftops, utility structures and other outdoor network sites where efficient RF performance and flexible equipment placement are important.
